Please find below a list of some of our frequently asked questions.  If you can't find the answer you're looking for please feel free to give us a call and we will be happy to help you.

Q.

My aerial pole has snapped, is it just a case of putting it back up?

A.

Not necessarily. it depends on the reason why it snapped. if because of age and rust then likely is also rusted and useless. I can attempt to put back up but this may be a waste of money, since due to the age of the installation it is likely other faults will occur in the not too distant future. If the aerial is not that old and bracket and/pole/aerial don't show signs of deterioration then it may be possible to put it back up providing the other parts (cable etc). are in good condition.

Q.

Do I need a large pole for my installation?

A.

No not necessarily, size doesn't always matter. Large poles are only really needed in poor reception areas or where there are obstacles in close proximity (like trees or tall buildings). assessment for size of poles will be given during installation process. We always endeveaur to give you the best signal strength available within your budget and will only fit large poles if necessary and will provide explanations if one is required.

Q.

Do I need a booster or amp?

A.

No, not always required. We use signal analysers to assess signal strength and quality. It is possible to split an aerial signal 12 times or more in some locations without amplification be we can accurately align aerials to get you the best signal strength. splitting the signal will weaken the signal being received by your TV, but we routinely check the television signal level to ensure it is within the boundaries for good digital reception. If during signal analysis it is found an amp is required then one will be recomended and reasons given with reasons given.

Q.

What's involved in a new installation?

A.

A completely new aerial installation by us involves attacthing a suitable chimney/wall bracket (galvanised of course, to prevent rusting and to ensure longevity). Suitable pole and good quality aerial, down lead cable to chosen room with cable being secured at every location. Signal strength is analysed and cable will be connected and TV tuned where possible.

Q.

What's the difference in prices when getting an aerial installation?

A.

Materials and time taken to make sure a proper job is done so that no faults develop in the future for a long time. Good materials and good work mean you should have a trouble free future. something we pride ourselves on.

Q.

I have an aerial, can I use this to go to another room.

A.

yes,

If your aerial is relatively recent (5 years or less, sometimes exceptions after this age may be taken into consideration, however no guarantees on installation however no guarantees on installation as we did not supply and fit the existing aerial and and can only carry out the parts of the work you require to our usual high standards, which may not have been carried out by others before our visit). If its older or poorly installed we will not use it, and refuse too.

Q.

But my old aerial is fine, it works, why can't you use it.

A.

TRUST US. if we say we can't, we can't. simple.

things don't last forever and we do not want you ringing us up after 4 months a year because of a fault, or worse, never ringing us again because you think we did a bad job.

Q.

Do I need a better aerial for more than one room?

A.

Not always. Aerials do perform differently and some are more durable and stronger as well as giving good balanced signal levels across the frequency spectrum. We will automatically chose an aerial we are happy with at an affordable price that will do the job that will give you the longest and best outcome for the price you pay. However, if you wish to treat yourself and spend that extra for its added features then please let us know and we can discuss the options. When an aerial is installed properly it should last you a long time not 6 months, not a year 3 years, but hopefully 10 or 20 years, we install with the hope it will last 20 years but we can offer guarantees of 3 years on completely new installations.

Q.

Why do some of my other channels work and not others.

A.

This can be for a few reasons. The Main reason is old cabling have higher loses at different frequencies especially after cable has deteriorated, whether its inside walls or UV sunlight or broken with water damage. They connection to the aerial balun may have become faulty. You may also be in a poor signal area and what you have is not suitable for your surrounding area. buildings, wifi,4G,3G, mobile transmitters and towers can cause problems, even cordless phones and internet routers, wireless dongles all have diverse effects on certain brands of TV's and TV tuners, it is also possible a small bubble has eve loved in a 5m radius above your house to interrupt the signal being received. I have seen this, not physically but through signal inspection and analysis using our trusted digital equipment. Whatever the problem we can fix or recommend accordingly.

Q.

If I buy my own materials like the aerial or satellite dish, will it be cheaper.

A.

NO.

Why?

Because whatever you paid for those materials I pay less, I use them all the time, I trust the products and manufacturers, wholesalers and tech support companies and people we use, and there after sales service too. You will most likely pay more and the people you purchased them from will not be able to help you as they probably don't even know what they sold you. we are not a shop. we price jobs on time and materials. our work is where we make our money, not our parts, as I have just said we are not a shop, if we wished to make money on parts we will open up a shop, maybe one day I will.

Why is it this way.

This is the 21st century and the introduction of the internet means that anyone and everyone can get whatever they want online or research what it is. You would have had to have been living on Mars to not know what Amazon or eBay are. When you buy your own products, if they fail you take them back, sure we can put them up, charge time for install, but when they fail, we can take them down and charge time to give it to you to send back. Does all this sound like a waste of time? I hope it wasn't a waste of time writing it. bBsically if we buy it we fit if anything goes wrong its us who is responsible and us who fixes it.

Unlike some companies and tradesmen we simply round product prices up (not to the nearest £1xxxx mark) and aim to keep our hourly rates the same on all jobs.

If your looking for cheap jobs then find cheap, unqualified workmen, don't ask professionals to do things cheap and cut corners. We are registered and trusted for a reason. Ask someone else please. We believe our prices are fair and reflect our skills and service as well as after care provided.

We are proud to have a reputation as Manchester's Premier Aerial Fitters.  We beleive we are the best and we are committed to exceeding our customers expectations.
